Dalam kitab Shahih Muslim, sahabat Abu Umamah al-Bahili RA meriwayatkan hadis bahwa Rasulullah SAW bersabda, "Siapa yang merampas hak seorang Muslim dengan sumpahnya, Allah akan menetapkan dia masuk neraka dan mengharamkannya masuk surga." Seorang sahabat kemudian bertanya, "Meskipun yang dirampas itu sesuatu yang kecil, wahai Rasulullah?" Nabi SAW menjawab, "Meskipun hanya sebatang kayu arak."

Kayu arak adalah kayu yang biasa dipakai untuk bersiwak (gosok gigi), dan bagi orang Arab waktu itu, kayu arak adalah sesuatu yang nilainya sangat rendah. Ini artinya seseorang yang merampas hak orang lain atau mengambil harta secara tidak sah kendati nilai harta itu sangat rendah, di akhirat nanti ia akan dimasukkan ke dalam neraka dan diharamkan masuk surga. Apabila mengambil harta orang lain dengan cara yang tidak sah satu rupiah saja, Allah akan mengharamkan yang bersangkutan masuk surga, apalagi apabila yang diambil itu miliaran bahkan triliunan rupiah.

I was thinking about life and how where we are today because of the choices (good or bad) that we have made in our yesterdays. I come to understand that our success or failure in life is not down to some outward circumstance or people, but our success or failure is down to us.

 It is common to go through periods in your life when you are feeling less than your best. Whether you are experiencing work related stress, you are feeling fatigued, or you are having difficulties in your personal relationships, there are things that you can do to feel better. Each of the suggestions that follow are designed to help you feel your best physically, mentally and emotionally. Even if they do not directly address the underlying sources of your anxiety, they may help give you the energy and will to deal with them in the future.

Exercise is one of the best ways to end your feelings of malaise. Working out has been shown to release endorphins, which are signals to your brain that you are happy. The amount of physical activity that is required to release these chemicals varies, but many who are new to working out will begin to notice the benefits even if they just take a brisk walk a few times a week. When you begin to develop and explore your creativity you may feel somewhat nervous or tense about doing something so outside of your normal behavior. This gets easier with time and inspiring surroundings are an excellent way to promote creativity. It doesn't matter what your creative expression is certain things will inspire you to explore it further, or express it in a whole new way.

Look around the place in your home where you spend the most time. What do you see? Do you see a television, computer, desk, bed, sofa, tables? More than likely you do see these things in your home. You express your creativity all the time for good or ill. Think of someone who is always telling lies, that's a form of creativity. Or someone who goes to great lengths to avoid a task or someone they dislike. It takes creativity to come up with one excuse after another. The same can be said for time spent thinking up ways to torment your colleagues, get something for nothing, cheat or scam people or to get back at family or friends. Danny Herman de Annan: Menemukan Islam dari Alquran Curian

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NEW York - Melihat keluarga Danny Herman de Annan, kita seperti melihat keluarga Amerika kebanyakan. Pagi mereka dimulai pukul 06.30. Mereka sarapan pagi bersama, sebelum semua anggota keluarga bubar jalan ke tempat aktivitas masing-masing. Yang membedakan: begitu bangun, seluruh anggota keluarga berwudlu untuk kemudian shalat subuh bersama.

Bagi De Annan, keluarga adalah surga di dunia baginya.  Membentuk keluarga seperti sekarang, tak pernah ada dalam bayangannya.

Danny Herman de Annan, kini 33 tahun, lahir di Queens, New York. Ayah dan ibunya berkewarganegaraan Puerto Rico, yang membesarkan anak-anaknya sebagai seorang Katolik.

Besar di AS, de Annan sempat mengalami "salah gaul". Ia bergabung dengan  geng remaja dan kerap melakukan kejahatan jalanan. Satu kasus mengantarkannya mendekam di penjara.

Berada di balik dinding penjara, de Annan mempunyai banyak waktu untuk merenung.  "Saya di sini. Hidup dalam kandang seperti hewan," katanya menceritakan pergulatan batinnya saat itu. "Saya tidak ingin seperti ini lagi."

Di penjara, ia mulai mengenal Tuhan. Ia belajar banyak agama dari sesama tahanan. Ia juga punya lebih banyak waktu untuk menelaah beberapa bacaan.

Perubahan yang signifikan dalam hidupnya, dimulai saat ia membaca Alquran yang diam-diam dicurinya dari perpustakaan penjara. Lama ia merenungi terjemahan Alquran itu. Dalam benaknya, ia mulai mengakui dan cocok dengan konsep ketuhanan dalam Islam.

Hidayah ditindaklanjutinya setelah masa hukumannya selesai. Ia rajin mendatangi diskusi keislaman. Hingga akhirnya ia  memutuskan untuk menerima Islam.

Pada saat itu Danny sudah mulai berhenti minum dan  merokok. Seorang teman memperkenalkannya kepada para pemimpin agama di Islam Education Center di North Bergen.

Proses pengislamannya lumayan unik. Para imam di islamic Center itu tak serta merta menuruti keinginan de Annan untuk masuk Islam. Mereka ingin, ia berislam dengan kesungguhan hati, bukan karena terbawa suasana atau emosi.

Ketika itu, semua orang di ruang shalat, mengatur barisan shalat. Danny  diinstruksikan untuk duduk dan melihat saja. Namun ia tergerak. "Saya tidak mau menunggu sembilan bulan lagi dengan hanya menonton orang lain shalat sementara saya tidak," katanya. Ia pun minta diislamkan sebelum shalat dimulai. Sejam kemudian, dia ada di dalam barisan shaf, menunaikan shalat.

De Annan menggunakan nama Muslim Abdullah, atau 'hamba Allah' dan mulai memperkenalkan Islam kepada orang tua dan saudara. Mereka kini memeluk Islam.
